Jinbochou, Tokyo June 1922, Taisho Era
The Rainy Season
Tamamori came to Tokyo with his sights set on getting accepted to the Imperial University. However, he doesn’t pass the entrance exam, and is so undisciplined and wrapped up in endless fantasies that he’s kicked out of his boarding house after only two years.
Through a stroke of luck, Tamamori begins to live and work at Umebachidou, a used book store. There, he enjoys whiling away his time as a “student preparing for entrance exams” and taking advantage of friends who are also from his hometown.
But one right after the other, mysterious deaths befall those friends and, realizing he’s been repeating the same rainy three days over and over again, Tamamori finds himself racing throughout Jinbochou to scoop them.
In this pop-occult mystery that surrounds the deaths of his friends…What is real, and what is a hallucination?
Tamamori (CV: Ryosuke Sakamaki)
Born in Aizu. 20 years old. A stingy and subservient bookworm. He is so vain that he wears a pair of fake glasses, and is very good at making himself look serious and clever. He followed his childhood friends, Minakami and Kawase, to the capital, but was kicked out of his lodgings without much accomplishment.
Minakami (CV: Tomoyo Kanzaki)
Born in Aizu. The eldest son of a sake brewing family. He is currently living with a benefactor in Koishikawa 2-chome while he attends the Faculty of Literature at the Imperial University. He is 21 years old.
Kawase (CV: Marcus)
Born in Aizu. Tamamori and Minakami are childhood friends from the same hometown. He is so good-looking that some people chase after him, but his sarcasm is his flaw.
Hanazawa (CV: Yu Okada)
Born in Aizu. Son of a doctor. He is 23 years old. He is blunt but passionate about justice; a true-blue typical Japanese man. After graduating from junior high school, he left Fukushima and went to the Military Academy. He is now a second lieutenant in the army.
Professor Hikawa (CV: Seiichiro Konno)
At dusk, a man with an eye patch wanders into the Umebachi-dou. His real name is Kijuro Hikawa. He speaks in a polite, respectful tone, but he is always anxious, frightened and suspicious.
Man in the Noh Mask (CV: Hideyoshi Bitou)
A mysterious large man who lives in the basement of Umebachi-dou. He wears a Noh mask and speaks with a slightly stammering tone. When he finds Tamamori, he chases after him for some reason, but he doesn’t seem to have any hostile intentions.
